L’Associazione Progetti Farnesiani nasce all’indomani di un importante evento artistico che rompe il silenzio sull’arte nella città di Margherita D’Austria.
Palazzo Farnese ospitò nel 1981 la mostra “Il Soffice Paese” (Soft Land) curata dal critico Giorgio Cortenova, creando così una attesa in tutti quegli ambienti artistici del centromeridione che di spazi disponibili non ne aveva molti.
Iniziò così una lunga serie di iniziative che fecero di Ortona un centro di riferimento per i fermenti artistici di regioni mal collegate ai circuiti più prestigiosi. Singoli artisti, gruppi di ricerca, giovani critici, ebbero l’opportunità di misurarsi col pubblico in una sede che divenne visibile oltre i confini regionali.
A Ortona, in terra d’Abruzzo, dei Cascella, da allora si videro opere di grandi artisti e di giovani talenti, con interventi di critici di grande fama.
Conferenze, iniziative editoriali, seminari, hanno contribuito alla crescita civile del territorio che sempre più si è aperto a scenari di cultura di ampio respiro.
Il Museo Ex Libris Mediterraneo e Il Centro Studi Exlibristici nel Complesso Monumentale di S. Anna sono le ultime realizzazioni di un complesso cammino nella strada dell’Arte e della Cultura.

The Progetti Farnesiani association was born the day after an important artistic event which broke the silence upon art in the Margerita d’Austria’s city.
In 1981 Farnese Palace was the “Soft Land” display host attended by the art critic Giorgio Cortenova producing on this way an expectation within all that central-southern artistic background which do not had many available spaces.
On this way a long series of enterprises started and Ortona began to be a landmark for the artistic ferments of regions which weren’t well linked to the most fascinating circuit. Single artists, research groups, young critics had the opportunity to face with public in a place that became visible across the regional borders.
In Ortona, land of Abruzzo, of Cascella, since that time there was seen works of big artists and of young talents, with very famous critic interventions.
Conferences, editorial enterprises, seminars had helped in the civil development of the territory which have even more to cultural sceneries of open vision.
The Museo Ex Libris Mediterraneo and the Ex libris Study Centre within the monumental plant of S. Anna are the last creation of a complex way on the road of art and culture.
